Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have strengthened their bilateral cooperation once again. During President Jokowi's visit to Abu Dhabi on July 17th, the two countries reached several significant agreements.

The working visit focused on various bilateral cooperation agreements, both within government spheres and in business sectors.

Key Point: 

• During the visit, Jokowi was also bestowed with the Order of Zayed by the President of the UAE

President Jokowi met with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), President of the UAE, at Qasr Al Watan to discuss several matters.

Eight Agreements Reached

The meeting resulted in eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), including:

1. MoU between the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and Eagle Hills concerning tourism and air transportation.
2. MoU between the Nusantara Capital Authority and the Dubai International Financial Centre Authority regarding the establishment of a Financial Centre in IKN.
3. MoU between the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) regarding nuclear energy.
4. MoU between Bank Indonesia (BI) and the UAE Central Bank (UAECB) concerning payment systems.
5. MoU between the Ministry of Finance and the UAE Ministry of Finance regarding Public Finance Management.
6. Framework Agreement between PT DI & PAL Aerospace concerning Technology Transfer of Maritime Patrol Aircraft and Anti-Submarine Warfare.
7. MoU between Masdar and PLN Icon+ for Joint Assessment and Study of commercial and industrial Solar Rooftop installations in Indonesia.
8. MoU between the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund of the UAE and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (Kemenkomarves) regarding the construction of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Joko Widodo International Mangrove Research Center in Bali.

During the visit, Jokowi was also honored with the Order of Zayed by the UAE President. The Order of Zayed is the highest civilian award given by the UAE to global leaders.

Previous recipients of this award include Xi Jinping of China, Narendra Modi of India, and Vladimir Putin of Russia. The UAE President explained that the award to Jokowi was a personal gesture of appreciation for the strong ties between the UAE and Indonesia.

During the meeting, Jokowi expressed his appreciation to MBZ and thanked him for the honor. This award signifies a special friendship and is named after the late Sheikh Zayed, a global inspirational figure known for his enduring legacy and humanitarian values.

In another gesture, President MBZ awarded the Order of the Union to Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, in recognition of the strong bilateral relations.
