The Science and Technology Museum was formally created on July 4, 1967, during the administration of Rector Brother José Otão, at the time under the name of Science Museum. With a few rooms and an exhibition area of 200 m2, the museum occupied the ground floor of building 10 for several years. During the administration of Brother Norberto Rauch, in 1998 the Museum was renamed the Science and Technology Museum, occupying a new space in the current building, with an interactive exhibition. The Science and Technology Museum, based on the institutional principles of PUCRS, has the mission of generating, preserving and disseminating knowledge through its collections and exhibitions, contributing to the development of science, education and culture. The Museum's role as a channel for disseminating knowledge is achieved through its exhibitions. Designed to arouse curiosity and an interest in science, they value the participation of visitors who, by engaging in playful and unusual experiences, become the protagonists of their own learning. MCT-PUCRS also promotes the generation and preservation of knowledge. Its scientific collections house a vast collection of fossils, specimens representing our biodiversity and pieces from archaeological excavations, which are the subject of research by master's and doctoral students from various parts of the world.
