Algerian Qatari Steel (AQS) is a joint venture between Algeria and Qatar, established to develop one of the largest steel production complexes in Algeria. Located in Bellara, in the Jijel province, the AQS complex is designed to produce around 2 million tons of steel annually, with plans for future expansion. The facility focuses on manufacturing various steel products, including rebar and wire rod, which are essential for Algeria's growing construction and industrial sectors. The partnership combines Algeria's rich natural resources with Qatar's investment to enhance the country's self-sufficiency in steel production and reduce dependence on imports, while also creating jobs and fostering local economic development.
