Automobile Alpine is a French racing and sports car manufacturer founded in 1955. The Alpine car brand was created in 1954. Jean Rédélé, the founder of Alpine, was originally a Dieppe garage owner who began his success in motorsport with one of the few French cars produced after World War II, Renault 4CV. The company was closely associated with Renault throughout its history, and was purchased by it in 1973. Production of Alpine models ceased in 1995. The Alpine brand was relaunched with the 2017 introduction of the new Alpine A110
