Cambodia Metro refers to the future mass transit system being developed in Phnom Penh, which is set to include both underground and above-ground components, including the much-anticipated metro network. The Cambodian government has chosen to pursue an underground metro system instead of a skytrain, primarily for its ability to preserve the city's skyline and avoid congestion in highly developed areas. The planned metro will connect Phnom Penh with the neighboring Kandal province, and the construction is estimated to cost approximately USD 1.8 billion. Local Cambodian companies, as well as international investors, especially from China, are expected to play a significant role in the project's execution​
