The Emirates Steel Phase 1 Rolling Mills project is a critical component of Emirates Steel, the UAE's largest integrated steel manufacturer. Located in Abu Dhabi's Industrial City, the company transformed from a simple re-roller of imported billets into a fully integrated steel plant. Phase 1 of the expansion included a 1.6 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) Direct Reduction Plant, a 1.4 million MTPA Steel Making Plant, and two Rolling Mills, among other facilities. This phase significantly increased rolling capacity to 2 million MTPA, with an investment of AED 3 billion (approximately USD 810 million).
