The Habitation Gaigneron is a historical site located in the commune of Lamentin on the Caribbean island of Martinique. It serves as a reminder of the island's agricultural past, particularly during the period when sugar cane production was a dominant industry. The site is marked by two old locomotives (shunters) and their wagons, which frame the entrance, symbolizing the island's extensive railway network that once spanned up to 300 km. This network was integral to transporting sugar cane during the peak of the industry at the end of the 19th century.
