Nan Hpaya Temple is one of the lesser-known yet historically significant temples in the ancient city of Bagan. Built in the 11th century, the temple features unique architectural elements, with a distinctive combination of Indian and Burmese design influences. It is considered one of the first brick temples constructed in Bagan, and its structure has influenced the design of other temples built in the region. Nan Hpaya is often associated with King Anawrahta, the founder of the Pagan Empire, who was instrumental in bringing Theravada Buddhism to Myanmar.
