The National Gugak Center, a successor of Emseongseo (of Silla Dynasty), Daeakseo (of Goryeo Dynasty), Jangagwon and Iwangjik Aakbu (of Joseon Dynasty), is a state-supported organization for art which has the history over 1000 years. Our center located at Seoul, as well as our branches located at the cities of Namwon, Jindo and Busan, has been trying to support the preservation, transmission and development of traditional music. We hope to keep functioning as a platform for the traditional music scene of Korea, trying to connect traditional arts to contemporary musics as well as to show the value of Korean culture to various parts of the world.
