In 1968 (Showa 43), Sengyoji Temple built a small theater called "Ikebukuro Art Theater" with the aim of "nurturing local culture", and then in 1972 (Showa 47) it was renamed "Theatre Green". From here, many theater companies, playwrights, directors, actors, etc. have been produced. This theater, which has long existed as a gateway to success for young theater companies, had its entire building rebuilt in 2005, and now houses three theaters in one building: "BIG TREE THEATER," "BOX in BOX THEATER," and "BASE THEATER." It was transformed into a theater complex. This was a large-scale movie theater that could show several movies at the same time, a theater version of a multiplex cinema, which made it possible to hold performances in three theaters at the same time. This is a form that embodies the good relationship between the region and culture that we are aiming for.
