    General Information

The lighthouse building, nestled within the fish harbor complex of Muara Baru in North Jakarta, stands as a beacon of maritime history and navigation. Despite its relatively modest size, this 16-meter (52 ft) round stone tower, adorned in pristine white, commands attention with its timeless elegance. Originally boasting three windows, only two remain today, serving as silent witnesses to the passage of time. With a focal plane of 17 meters (56 ft), its steady red flash every 3 seconds guides ships safely through the waters. Stepping inside, visitors are greeted by a stone inscribed with Chinese characters, marking the absolute zero longitude of Batavia, crucial for mapping the vast expanse of the Dutch East Indies. A treasure trove of antiquity, the lighthouse also houses an antique chronometer, a poignant reminder of its vital role in maritime navigation throughout history.
