The Proclamation Monument, situated within the Proclamation Park complex on Jalan Proklik, Central Jakarta, serves as a solemn tribute to the historic proclamation of Indonesia's independence. Nestled within the former residence of Soekarno on Jalan Pegangsaan Timur 56, now renamed Jalan Proklik, this park holds profound significance in the nation's collective memory. Although the original house where the proclamation was read has been lost since the 1960s, the monument stands as a timeless symbol of Indonesia's journey to freedom. Within the complex, visitors are greeted by two imposing statues of Soekarno and Hatta, crafted by the renowned sculptor I Nyoman Nuarta, reminiscent of the iconic moment captured in historical photographs. At the heart of the monument lies a solemn tribute: a black marble statue depicting the proclamation manuscript, meticulously engraved to mirror the original document typed by Sayuti Melik, adorned with the authentic signatures of Bung Karno and Bung Hatta. This monument stands as a testament to the courage and determination of Indonesia's founding fathers, inviting visitors to reflect on the sacrifices made in the pursuit of independence.
